Best Things to do in Westchester this Fall and Winter

Whether you are considering moving to Westchester or you have moved into your new house, chances are you haven’t explored the whole county yet.  It’s a big county and that means plenty of choices, but I’m sure you are looking forward to discovering fun activities and places nearby, and some a half-hour drive. So, here’s a guide on the best things to do and best places to go that you can use to jumpstart your Westchester discovery:

Visit the Westchester Children’s Museum

Looking for a place wherein your kids can learn and play at the same time? Then the Westchester Children’s Museum is the perfect place to bring them to.

Aside from exhibits, the museum also has interactive activities that will get their hands busy and unleash their inner artist, architect or engineer. They can build their own rollercoaster, construct mini building frameworks, create artworks, crafts and more.

Plus, they also accept bookings for birthday celebrations, with a free children’s museum shirt for the birthday celebrant and exclusive access to exhibits for the guests. So, go ahead and plan that dream party for your little munchkin!

Pick some fruits and veggies

After staying indoors, it’s time to go out and get your hands dirty ̶ literally. If you’re planning to bake a pumpkin cake or an apple pie, wouldn’t it be nice to pick them yourself rather than buy them at the supermarket?

It won’t only be a unique experience for you and your family; you’ll also be able to ensure that they’re fresh because you will be able to choose the best of the bunch.

If you’re going pumpkin picking, you should go and check out these pumpkin patches while if you’re going apple picking, check out these apple farms.

Give yourself a treat

After a long day out, it’s time for you to sit back, relax and enjoy. Westchester has lots of spas that you can choose from ̶ from laser spas and organic spas to beauty bars and salons, you can find it all here! You can also go out for a drink since there are many local cafes and bars nearby.

Go ice-skating

Once it starts snowing, most people would rather stay at home but not in Westchester because there are lots of fun activities to do!

One of them is ice skating. Whether you’re looking for an indoor or outdoor skating rink, you’ll surely find one near you, not to mention that some skating rinks in Westchester also host ice hockey events.

Cut your own Christmas tree

Aside from ice-skating, you can also cut your own Christmas tree. In Westchester, there are two local Christmas tree farms open from late November through late December.

You can choose between Stuart’s Farm in Granite Springs or Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm in Yorktown Heights. It’s best to choose the one that’s near you so it’ll be easier for you to take your Christmas tree home.

If Christmas isn’t your thing, many of the towns have both a Christmas tree and Menorah lighting ceremony (on appropriate days of course).  Check with your local town website.

Join the ‘Holiday Bricktacular’

Do your kids want to go out some more after the ice-skating and Christmas tree cutting? Then you should bring them to the ultimate indoor Lego playground in Westchester; the Westchester Legoland Discovery Center!

Starting on December 1st, they will be launching the ‘Holiday Bricktacular’; a series of fun building activities that will be held every weekend. With Legos, you can mash up any Holiday themes that your mind can create.

Now that your fall and winter bucket list is full, you can now start your Westchester adventure. Have fun!
